Beef Cattle

Hardy, grass-fed and managed on shared Laikipia pasture.

Our beef cattle herd is built on the legendary Boran — East Africa’s premier beef breed — selected for fertility, temperament and exceptional weight gain on natural pasture. Animals rotate through shared grazing land beneath the acacias, managed to the same standard whether they belong to us or a partner smallholder in the ecosystem.

Dairy Cattle

Steady milkers managed for consistent peri-urban supply.

Alongside our beef herd, we manage a smaller dairy herd for local peri-urban milk supply. Cows are grazed on rotation and managed for consistent yield, sound udder health and calm, easy handling — a good fit for smallholders looking to add dairy into their operation without doing it alone.

Goats

Browsers managed the way the savannah intended.

From the white Galla of Kenya’s drylands to fast-growing Boer crosses, the goats in our care thrive on acacia browse and shared grazing land. They are hardy, parasite-tolerant and well suited to peri-urban smallholder herds aggregated into our management system.

Dorper · Red Maasai

Sheep

Shed-wool sheep built for the equatorial sun.

The Dorper and Red Maasai flocks in our care need no shearing, shrug off the dry season and lamb on shared range. Selected for mothering ability and easy management, they turn Laikipia’s golden grasses into a low-input, high-return flock for the smallholders in our ecosystem.

Dromedary

Camels

Drought-resilient herds for a changing climate.

As Laikipia’s dry seasons lengthen, camels have become a valuable addition to the ecosystem — browsing where cattle and sheep cannot, and holding condition through drought better than any other species we manage. A newer part of our herd, added to give smallholders a resilient option.
